Chief Winemaker of Premium and Reserve Wines
Marco is the winemaker responsible for Viña San Pedro Premium and Reserva wines, which are: Cabo de Hornos, the new Kankana del Elqui and Tierras Moradas wines, 1865 Single Vineyard and Limited Edition lines, as well as our award-winning Reserva brand, Castillo de Molina.
Puyo is an Agronomist Engineer and Oenologist of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Elegance has featured in his style, in addition to faithfully reflecting the experience and know-how he acquired during the several seasons during which he worked in France with important manufacturers, such as Chateau Lafite Rothschild in Bordeaux; Chablis, William Fèbre in La Bourgogne; and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Reims in the region of Champagne.
At the same time, Puyo worked in important Chilean wineries, such as Viña Errázuriz, Casa Lapostolle, Viña Manquehue, where he was in charge of making the Domaine Rabat and Casal de Gorchs wines, as well as being involved in the production of sparkling wines, as the Oenological Area Manager, and also at Viña Los Vascos, where he worked for six years as Chief Winemaker and Production Manager.
After joining Viña San Pedro in year 2006, Marco began searching for the best and most special origins within the vineyards this winery has along the whole country, in Chile‚ in the main vitivinicultural valleys in Chile.
This way, the Origin Project was launched, giving birth to two new Ultra Premium wines: a 100% Syrah stemming from the mystical northernmost frontier of Chilean wine-growing, Kankana del Elqui, Solar Nº10; and a Carménère grown in very special and unique purple soil within the warmth of the locality of Pencahue, in Maule Valley, the recently launched Tierras Moradas.
